Keyaki Aikido

Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art for training body and mind through joint practice, and can be translated as “the way of unifying energies”.

In Aikido, an attack is not blocked but redirected through flowing and seemingly effortless movements, while remaining calm and centered. There are no competitions in Aikido, because it is about personal growth rather than winning or losing.

Aikido training is for improving physical fitness, flexibility, and coordination as well as mental and emotional balance. It enhances self-defense skills and promotes conflict resolution abilities.

Getting on the mat and trying out Aikido is the best way to find out what this Japanese martial art is all about. We are a mixed group of adult aikidoka of various ages, ranging from beginners to advanced practitioners.

Newcomers are always welcome for a free try-out.

Beginners usually wear comfortable sports clothes with long pants, or white martial arts suits if already available. Advanced aikidoka wear black or blue hakama, traditional samurai pantskirts, and Aikido masters have black belts instead of a white ones.
